Minted Characters

There are 5 minted characters to this story — characters whose souls are available for purchase. What does that mean? It means the owner of the associated NFTs have the ability to shape their characters' basic facts and personalities.

For example: notice how some of the characters don't have names or genders? That's because those are configurable elements. Whatever the owner decides, those definitions get integrated into the story as it's written.

The Hero

A former test pilot, they lost everything over a stupid mistake — and haven't had a lot of success bouncing back. They're overconfident and impulsive, but their heart's in the right place. They're desperate to make a difference in any way they can...and this might just be their ticket out of the dog house.

The Pain in the Ass

This character is also determined to make the world a better place, but they're the exact opposite of impulsive. They know the rule book inside-out, follow every suggestion like it's the law, and aren't shy about telling others when they've gone astray. They're the hero's worst nightmare — and they're stuck being teammates.

The Flirt

If it's got a pulse, the Flirt can charm it (and oftentimes a pulse is optional). You might wonder why they're even on the team — but when they set their smile to kill, all doubts melt away. Some people get where they are by skill and perseverance, but the Flirt never had to. The real question is whether a silver tongue will help them where they're going.

The Brawn

Sometimes, all that's needed is a nice solid punch to the face, and that's what the Brawn excels at. It's not that they don't understand diplomacy or the niceties of social interaction, it's that diplomacy and social interaction are slow and open to interpretation. A punch isn't. And yeah, that black-and-white worldview applies to allies just as much as enemies.

The Liar

Not to give it all away, but some people are just obviously untrustworthy. The Liar is the kind of person where you're not wondering *if* they'll stab you in the back, but where, and when, and how. Whatever they say, you know it's untrue — and you know *they* know you know it's untrue, therefore... uh... basically you're screwed.

Non-Minted Characters

These characters aren't customizable; they're really just listed to give you a better sense of the world our heroes will be living in.

Eamon Sparks: The Billionaire

No stranger to the public eye, Eamon has been founding wild, speculative companies for years — but this may be his strangest one yet. It's always hard to tell if there's a method to his madness, or if he's just really good at making dumb luck look easy. But whatever his eccentricities, he is dead serious about this mission, and willing to do anything to see it succeed. Yes, *anything*.

Urgo: The Mechanic

Urgo is Eamon's mechanic: the one who gets things done. If Eamon has an idea about how to re-route power through an unrelated subsystem to power the whatever-it-is, Urgo is not only the one who has to do it — he also has to figure out how to connect the unspoken parts of the equation to reality. Is he underappreciated? Yes. Does he care? Hard to say, he's too busy to complain.

The Villain

The Villain — who shall remain nameless for now — hates Eamon and his crew for a very specific, but very secret reason. He's made it his life's work to stomp them into the ground, and then keep stomping until there's nothing left. His *reason* for being angry is fully justified, he just doesn't have a sense of scale when it comes to revenge. Or, well, he does, and it's just a lot bigger than Eamon expected.

Helena Winthrop: The Diplomat

Winthrop is the very definition of careful neutrality: whatever the question, you can be certain she will never give even the faintest hint of taking sides. In this latest skirmish between Eamon his foes — with stakes as big as they are — her only concern is whether everyone is following the rules correctly. Even if those rules are likely to get someone killed.
