Eh?

This post is from a version of my blog with inconsistent timestamps: evidently I was very good at defining 'modified' dates, but not 'created' dates. As such, I can't be sure when the content was actually written. Sorry!

Note about spelling: when I write "colour", I'm not misspelling it. I misspell lots of stuff, but some things I do the Canadian way. I also write "cheque" instead of "check", which I think most Canadians don't even do. I am the very model of a modern major-general.

This project is based in Canada, so there are probably some cultural differences between where you are and where I am. I wanted to be clear that although certain parts of MC's culture are very hostile to the United States, this is not an anti-American rant. I would not make an episode about Michael Moore in MC, but I wouldn't forbid it either. I'd have Moore sit down next to Dick Cheney at a diner by mistake, and have some fun.

If you look at the worldview set out in Dustrunners (don't try, you can't), you'll see that France is in a miserable recession because of space tourism restrictions, Africa is flexing its collective muscles to push back at the rest of the world, China is still on the verge of stepping on Taiwan, and hte EU is meddling with world politics with espionage and targeted corruption. I'm not overly nice to anyone. The world that Monitor City exists in is no better than the one we have no, and it's no worse. It's just the same garbage through a different lens.

Would I buy LibertyBell.com, if I could? No. If I could, I would give it to whatever historical association is actually in charge of the real Liberty Bell. This show should not be thought of by thousands of American schoolchildren instead of an important part of their history. It should be a close second, maybe, but not first :)
