Why "Liberty Bell"?

MCMSaturday, June 26, 2004
This post is from a version of my blog with inconsistent timestamps: evidently I was very good at defining 'modified' dates, but not 'created' dates. As such, I can't be sure when the content was actually written. Sorry!

That's a good question, and the short answer is: "just wait and see". The long answer is a bit more confusing, so try and follow along...

Liberty Bell has nothing directly to do with the Liberty Bell, which you may or may not know was "... ringing out from the tower of Independence Hall summoning citizens to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence ..." (ref). It's a famous part of Americana, don't ya know?

How does that connect to a series about a Canadian hacker living in an independent city-state that is quietly hostile towards the U.S.A?

Okay, I guess the long answer is just like the short one: "just wait and see".
