Very Early Percy Sketch

I'm already 7 days behind schedule, and will probably fall further behind this week because I appear to be coming down with a cold. In the meantime, I am busily illustrating the as-of-yet-unfinished "Percy's Perch" (thus far, early alpha reaction has been very positive).
This is the sketchy sketch I did of Percy today. I know what I want him to look like (cute little gargoyle-y) but I haven't been able to master the effect for the pictures as a whole. This is a step in the right direction, anyway. I'm going for a saturated watercolour, almost. I need more washing texture in the background, I think.
